MISSION

The Awards Committee was established to recognize BSCES members, as well as other practicing civil engineers, for their contributions to ASCE, BSCES and the civil engineering profession.

ACTIVITY

The awards committee meets two or more times in a year to solicit and review nominations for the BSCES Annual Awards. These nominations are then put to a vote by the Board of Government and further reviewed by the committee to be presented annually at the BSCES Awards Dinner. The awards committee is responsible for the following:

  • Citizen Engineer Award
  • Clemens Herschel Award
  • College Educator Award
  • Employer Recognition Awards
  • Engineer of the the Year Award
  • Government Civil Engineer Award
  • Horne/Gaynor Public Service Award
  • Journalism Award
  • Pre-College Educator Award
  • Project of the Year Award
  • Younger Member Award

The awards committee is also charged with overseeing the society's applications for various ASCE section and branch awards and may, from time-to-time, recommend BSCES members for individual ASCE awards. The awards committee accepts applications for the Section and Employer Recognition Awards in the first quarter of each year.
