New England Regional Future City Competition

The Future City Competition is a project‐based learning experience where student teams in grades 6-8, led by an educator and volunteer mentor, spend four months developing a virtual city (using SimCity), researching and designing a solution to a city wide issue, and building a scale model of their city using recycled material. In January, teams present their vision to a panel of volunteer judges. After the competition is over, student participants are not only prepared to be citizens of today’s complex and technical world, they are poised to become the drivers of tomorrow.
