Reed Brockman has been a bridge inspector in Boston for a long time. He loves his work and loves to share his knowledge of bridges. A few years ago, Reed started taking groups of students around Boston to showcase the great bridges and to share his knowledge. Groups such as engineering societies, middle school students, boy scouts and girl scouts have received tours of our city’s bridges from Reed. If you have a classroom of students or group of people eager to learn about bridges in the area, you can reach out to Reed Brockman at [email protected]. Tours are only by request and preferably take place during the warmer months.
Bridge Tour Itinerary
The first four bridges are located along the Fort Point Channel which connects South Boston to the rest of Boston. The bus can drop students off by the Barking Crab and Federal Courthouse on Northern Avenue.
- Old Northern Avenue Bridge
- Evelyn Moakley Bridge
- Congress Street Bridge
- Summer Street Bridge
The final bridge is one of the most notable in Boston as it was a part of the Big Dig project. The bus can go under this bridge to drop students off so they see the bridge from a new angle.
