Members of the BSCES Board of Government are saddened to announce the passing of BSCES Honorary Member and ASCE Life Member Philip P. Bonanno, PE, on August 13, 2025.Â
Phil became an ASCE member in 1955 when he received his BS in Civil Engineering from Columbia University. Phil later earned his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Columbia as well. After moving to Massachusetts in 1968, he began working at JF White Contracting Company. Phil oversaw some of JF White’s largest projects, including the Patriots’ Shaefer Stadium, the Charles River Dam, MBTA tunnels, South Station renovation, and several Central Artery projects including the Ted Williams Tunnel.
Phil was voted a BSCES Honorary Member on March 20, 2000. He was also a member of the Moles and a member and board member of several other engineering and construction industry organizations.
