The BSCES Board of Government would like to congratulate Glenn R. Bell, PE, SE, for being named a 2021 ASCE Distinguished Member. Glenn, who is also a BSCES Honorary Member, retired from Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) in January 2020, where he served as senior principal, CEO, and board chairman. Glenn led projects involving creative structural design, investigation of structural distress and failure, and structural repair and rehabilitation. He also has extensive experience in engineering mechanics, materials behavior, and building envelope technology
Distinguished Membership is the highest honor ASCE can bestow. Reserved for civil engineers who are either ASCE Members or Fellows, "A Distinguished Member is a person who has attained eminence in some branch of engineering or in the arts and sciences related thereto, including the fields of engineering education and construction."
