December 2025 President’s Report

Katie Swanson, PE, Project Manager – Water Resources Engineer, CDM Smith

December was a busy and festive month for BSCES!

We continued to deliver high-quality technical programming and networking opportunities for our members. The second installment of the SEI Fall Mini Lecture Series took a deep dive into using AI for improving infrastructure management with speaker Dr. Fei Han from UNH.

Our commitment to professional development was further demonstrated through the FHWA-NHI-130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection course, which provided in-depth training on inspection protocols and safety standards for tunnel infrastructure.

In addition, we hosted two informative webinars:
Green Infrastructure Stormwater Strategies: Shaping the Cities of the Future, which explored sustainable approaches to urban stormwater management.
Historic Brick Masonry Sewers: Inspection, Analysis, and Repair, a fascinating look at preserving and maintaining critical underground infrastructure.

To wrap up the year on a high note, the Younger Member Group Holiday Party brought members together for a fun and festive evening of networking and celebration. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success!

As always, check out the https://members.bsces.org/eventcalendar for upcoming opportunities to learn, connect, and engage with our community.

On behalf of the entire BSCES leadership team, I wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a happy, healthy New Year! Thank you for your continued support and participation—we look forward to an exciting 2026 together.

There is still some time to apply for the Francis M. Keville Memorial Scholarship!
