Treasurer
The Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee, Board of Government, and Finance Committee. The Treasurer prepares financial reports for distribution to the Board of Government and Executive Committee, based on financial materials prepared by TECET staff, and serves as the principal signatory for BSCES checks.
The Treasurer also participates in the annual financial review or audit conducted by professional accounting staff and reviews financial statements and federal and state tax returns prepared by the organization’s professional accountants.
Assistant Treasurer
The assistant treasurer assists the treasurer in their duties, thereby gaining knowledge of the transactions of the Society. In the absence of the treasurer, the assistant treasurer can be consulted regarding financial matters of the section and they may carry out all non-voting duties of the treasurer.
Government Affairs & Professional Practice Committee
Mission
Serve as both a catalyst and facilitator in promoting civil engineering professional concerns related to local or national government affairs.
Charge
Government Affairs issues evolve either from the Board of Government or within the general membership.
- Become better informed about the various infrastructure funding programs that could be more effectively expedited to local government.
- Continually monitor Professional Engineering Registration Boards and their composition.
- Stimulate interest and personal involvement by BSCES members in government-related legislative actions which affect the civil engineering profession.
- Continue the momentum of the 2026 Report Card for Massachusetts’ infrastructure
Newsletter Editorial Board Chair
Mission
BSCESNews provides monthly communication to all Section members about local events, the professional practice of civil engineering, technical group meetings, local seminars, special events, member news, etc., except during the months of July and August when it is not published. A BSCES Newsletter Board of Editors was established in 1999, staffed by volunteers from the BSCES membership, and supplemented by TECET staff. The objectives of the board are to:
• Maintain BSCES Board involvement in newsletter production.
• Establish and implement procedures for monthly production of the newsletter.
• Proactively plan the newsletter throughout the year, identifying articles to be included for each of the ten issues.
• Coordinate with TEC staff to produce a meaningful and useful newsletter for Section membership.
Public Awareness & Outreach Committee Members (Co-Chair opportunity available)
Mission
The Public Awareness and Outreach Committee is responsible for organizing, overseeing, and reporting all educational outreach on the K-12 level, and developing and/or participating in activities and creating/participating in the development of literature or other media with the explicit purpose of promoting Civil Engineering or the work of the BSCES to the public as a whole.
