As we continue to grow, Tetra Tech has a tremendous opportunity for a mid-level Transportation/Highway Engineer to work with a top-notch team of highway/traffic engineers and transportation planners.  We focus on advancing complex roadway/highway infrastructure projects and we are a recognized leader in the planning, permitting, and design of transportation projects throughout the Commonwealth. We are proud to be designing major projects within our region such as the I-90/Allston Interchange and the Rutherford Ave/Sullivan Square corridor in Boston.

Location: This position is based out of our Marlborough, MA office, located in the Marlborough Technology Park, which is easily accessible from major highways and full of amenities such as a cafeteria, game room and gym. We offer an extremely flexible hybrid work environment with only 1-2 office days weekly and 3-4 work from home. Employees may choose to work additional days at the office if they wish. We encourage working where you feel most productive. 

Your role:

  • Designing roadway/highway projects from inception to completion
  • Designing horizontal geometry, profiles, and grading
  • Designing and analyzing drainage systems and storm water management infrastructure
  • Working on Complete Streets, green infrastructure, design pavements, markings/signs, including highway guide signs
  • Preparing Right of Way plans
  • Preparing Temporary Traffic Control Plans
  • Developing quantity takeoffs, cost estimates and specifications
  • Attending client meetings and preparing presentations

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • 4-8 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • EIT certification, PE preferred
  • MassDOT Design Standards experience a plus
  • Intermediate AutoCAD/Civil 3D design skills
  • Drainage design and stormwater management experience preferred
  • Experience with other computer software applications within the civil engineering field (ideally SignCAD, StormCAD, HydroCAD, AutoTurn, etc.) desirable but not required
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff from different disciplines and backgrounds Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires successful evaluation of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and maintaining a safe driving record
