Senior Civil Engineer - Sasaki

January 9, 2023

At Sasaki we purposefully take on challenging work that we see as opportunities to evolve and stretch. As such, we look for teammates who are excited to engage fully from the get-go. Ideas matter tremendously around here and as a Sasaki civil engineer you will be encouraged to have a point of view, to share your thinking often, to push design further, and to develop a comfortable rapport with clients. For a mid-sized firm, we guard our small-firm feel focusing less on hierarchy than on working together to yield the best designs.

We are currently seeking a collaborator in our Landscape Architecture, Ecology, and Civil Engineering discipline. The most successful candidates can deliver creative engineering design excellence, attention to detail, organization and time management skills, and potential to grow into leadership roles over time. If you think you can add something special to our team and our practice we would love to hear from you.

What you bring:

  • Sound engineering chops – you’ve got a solid base of engineering experience working on projects of multiple scales and typologies. You have a strong working knowledge of green infrastructure, utility design, regulatory processes, and an array of project scales from master plan through construction administration.
  • Collaborative spirit – the idea of interdisciplinary teamwork gets you excited.  You’re ready to bring ideas from our world-class planning and design team to life.
  • Passion – you have a healthy dose of ambition for yourself, your team, the work (and the firm you’ll come to love)
  • Proactive resourcefulness – you’re energetic and positive about solving problems and take initiative to find a way to ‘yes.’ You are self-motivated and can manage your time effectively while juggling multiple projects.
  • Growth-orientation – you’re curious and want to find greater ways to impact the world around you
  • Humanistic sensibility – you design for people and you generally enjoy working with others
  • Leadership – you’re comfortable guiding teams, mentoring staff, listening and incorporating the ideas of others, and representing Sasaki to clients and the greater design community

What you’ll do:

  • Manage internal project teams and external relationships with clients and subconsultants for a wide range of project types from master planning and conceptual design through construction documentation.
  • Oversee construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Participate in marketing and business development efforts.  Be interested in crafting proposals and interviewing for new work including building subconsultant teams, developing work plans, and writing detailed scope-of-work documents and contracts.
  • Develop and coordinate all facets of project design through regulatory processes and project approvals

Experience and Education:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Experience leading teams through design phases from master planning to construction documentation and administration
  • Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Marketing and Business Development experience and acumen
  • Experience with the following software: AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Hydrology and Hydraulic Modeling Software (e.g. HydroCAD, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, etc.), ArcGIS, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
