Infrastructure Group

MISSION

To bring an awareness to the public and the civil engineering community as to the condition of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' infrastructure system; to focus on those infrastructure systems that are being neglected which may affect the citizens of the Commonwealth in the long term; to report on new concepts in engineering and materials; to work with state agencies, candidates for state office and the legislature to make them aware of our activities; to address methods for implementation of improvement programs by combining private and governmental efforts; to promote and stress the need for research and development of infrastructure maintenances, repairs, etc.; and to organize meetings and seminars focusing on infrastructure topics.

 

"Infrastructure" is defined as all existing public and publicly regulated facilities necessary to support social and economic needs including, but not limited to, the following:  streets and highways, bridges, railroads, mass transit, airports, seaports, water supply and distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, stormwater collection systems, dams and flood control facilities, solid waste disposal systems, parks, electric facilities, natural gas facilities, communications systems and buildings.
