BSCES Scholarships available to Students
LEO CASAGRANDE SCHOLARSHIP
The Leo Casagrande Fund is used to award $1,000 scholarship awards to graduate students pursuing a career in geotechnics in memory of Leo Casagrande. The fund is managed by the Geo-Institute and candidates for the scholarship are voted on by that Committee. Visit the Geo-Institute page.
JONATHAN B. GOLDEN SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
In 2002, BSCES established the Jonathan B. Golden Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of Jon Golden and his many contributions to the environmental engineering profession. The scholarship is for a graduate student who is pursuing a career in environmental engineering. Visit the Environmental and Water Resources Group page.
FRANCIS M. KEVILLE MEMORIAL FUND.
The Francis M. Keville Memorial Fund was established from donations in recognition of Mr. Keville’s efforts and abilities to take his vision of large public transportation projects and make them a reality. The fund provides, through a competitive selection, a scholarship to students at local engineering colleges and universities in recognition of achievement or promise in transportation and/or construction. BERTRAM BERGER MEMORIAL FUND.
The Bertram Berger Memorial Fund was established in recognition of Bertram Berger's contributions to ASCE and to BSCES. The Transportation Technical Group administers the fund. Allocations from the fund were used to establish a joint BSCES/SAME (Society of American Military Engineers) Bertram Berger Scholarship at Northeastern University and an endowed scholarship for the University of Massachusetts (UMass) University campuses that offer civil engineering curricula. The endowed scholarship is known as the "Boston Society of Civil Engineering/ASCE Bertram Berger Memorial.” Visit the Transportation Group page.
SIMPSON GUMPERTZ & HEGER
The firm of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger established the Simpson Gumpertz & Heger scholarship with BSCES/ASCE to encourage students in the pursuit of civil engineering as a professional undergraduate-level civil engineering majors who are members of an ASCE Student Chapter or Club in Massachusetts, have completed two-and-one-half years of a four-year program or the equivalent portion of a five-year or part-time program, and expect to complete their undergraduate degree in December 2002 or later, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
