William P. Morse Award

A bequest of $2,000 was received in 1949 from the late William P. Morse, a member of the BSCE.  No restrictions were placed upon the use of the fund but it was decided at that time to keep the bequest intact in a separate fund and that the income would be used for the benefit of the Society and its members.  On April 5, 1954, the Board of Government voted "to appropriate from the income of this fund a scholarship to be known as the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship in memory of William P. Morse, and that it be given to a civil engineering student at Tufts University.

On September 21, 1981, the Board of Government designated the gift to the student as an award and stipulated that the amount of the award be determined annually.

The BSCES Student Affairs Committee requests nominations for this award annually and submits nominees for the BSCES Board of Government's consideration. The Board selects the William P. Morse Award recpient who is presented the award during the annual BSCES Student Night.
