Transportation Group

MISSION
Focuses on all matters relevant to the topic of transportation including planning, engineering, design, construction, operation and funding of transportation facilities.  The group is intended to provide a forum for educating BSCES members (and non-members) on all types of transportation projects and issues. The group is multi-modal and considers a range of issues facing passenger and freight movement on the following modes:  airport, highway, transit, rail, water transportation, pedestrians and bicycles.


GROUP CHARGE
• Provide a diverse, interesting program of meetings (five to seven per year)
• Select and present the Bertram Berger Memorial Award to an outstanding younger member.
• Participate in the selection of the Bertram Berger scholarship student award recipient, awarded annually in conjunction with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) to a Northeastern University student.
• Increase the recognition of the many facets of engineering involving transportation planning, engineering and construction.
• Identify ways of enhancing the value and/or distribution of the Bertram Berger Memorial Fund in a manner that allows the fund to be self-sustaining.
• Maintain responsibility for any event or award sponsored by the (ASCE-National?) Louis Berger Fund.
