BSCES works towards the advancement of technical excellence and innovation in the civil engineering profession through the development and transfer of civil engineering information, including support of high academic standards in civil engineering education. In addition to supporting ASCE’s Civil Engineering Body of Knowledge for the 21st Century, Second Edition and coordinating with the many universities, public agencies, and private entities involved in the practice of civil engineering, BSCES also works towards: - Improving civil engineering quality, performance and productivity
- Informing the membership and the public about the total body of civil engineering knowledge available from ASCE, including the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF)
- Publishing the BSCES Journal of Civil Engineering Practice and the BSCES News, as well as providing information on our web site and through our technical group meetings
- Assisting our members in advancing their computer literacy, adapting to technological change, and continuing education
- Providing public comment and strengthening programs for design manuals and for ethics, codes and guidance documents
- Reviewing the responsibility civil engineers have in design, permitting and construction of civil engineering projects
- Enhancing the civil engineer's role as manager of diverse operations and as a leader of permit/design/construct teams
- Reducing adverse impacts of frivolous litigation on the civil engineering practice.
