The Leo Casagrande Memorial Fund was established in 1990 in honor of Dr. Leo Casagrande. The purpose of the Fund was not specified. From 1990 to 1999, it went unused. In November of 1999, the Geotechnical Executive Committee moved to approach the BSCES Board of Government to allow the Committee to manage the Fund, subject to the approval of the Casagrande Family. The Fund will be used to endow an annual scholarship in full-time graduate study of geotechnical engineering. The Geotechnical Group decided to make an initial donation of $1,000, and to use some of the profits from its next several lecture series to bolster the Fund. The Board unanimously approved the motion. |
