

MISSION Assist the Board of Government in formulating and instituting continuing education policies and programs. This committee may also assist other Boston Section and/or ASCE national committees in areas of continuing education on an as-needed basis. The committee may also sponsor separate continuing educational lectures or activities which are not sponsored by the technical groups or other committees. STRUCTURE The committee consists of a chairperson and at least four other members. MEETINGS Meetings are held semi-annually and as required to perform this committee's functions. PROCEDURES The committee sponsors two lecture series each year which prepare practicing engineers for the state Professional Engineering registration examination. Technical dinner meeting or lecture series attendees are entitled to receive Professional Development Hours (PDHs) in accordance with the time allotted for the technical speaker ASCE has issued a document explaining how to organize continuing education courses, as well as the policies and procedures for issuance of credit for ASCE-sponsored Continuing Professional Development Programs. Contact ASCE for updated information. Approval must be received ON A YEARLY BASIS from ASCE for CEU-units to be awarded. FINANCIAL The committee is responsible for preparing its program budget for approval by the Board of Government. Net profits from committee programs are credited to the Continuing Education Reserve Fund. The committee also generates revenue from the sale of videotapes of the course. The Continuing Education Fund is an invested fund with interest accrued to the Section. |
