COPRI Boston Chapter

MISSION
To develop and disseminate information on the science and profession of engineering in the fields of waterways, port, coastal and oceans.


GROUP CHARGE
• To provide a business and professional service to its members.  The primary goal of the committee is to develop powerful programs with impressive and knowledgeable speakers so that members will view the event as a program not to miss.  Each program shall become a forum for stimulating discussion that provides useful engineering and business ideas as well as networking opportunities.  Look for current topics, create excitement around these topics and develop presentation that will offer education and business opportunities in the current economic climate.
• Provide up to five technical meetings per year and a seminar on a biennial basis.  Topics and knowledgeable speakers for meetings and seminars shall be selected that will produce interesting, informative and well-attended programs in the area of waterways, port, coastal and oceans.


ESTABLISHED
Established as a Committee on December 21, 1981; Established as a Technical Group on March 21, 1983.  The Board of Government voted in 2001 to change the name from Waterways, Ports, Coastal and Oceans Group to just Waterways, to make it more inclusive. At its September 21, 2010 meeting the Board of Government voted to have the Waterways Group join with the Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The Waterways Group name was subsequently changed to the COPRI Boston Chapter.
