Bertram Berger Memorial Fund

The Bertram Berger Memorial Fund was established in September 20, 1982 by a Board of Government vote in recognition of Bertram Berger's contributions to ASCE and to BSCES.  Mr. Berger passed away in 1982 and at that time was a Vice President with Fay Spofford & Thorndike.  He was also a past president of BSCES.  A Memorial Committee was established at that time to raise the necessary funds and to make recommendations annually to the Board of Government for an appropriate award, with the final decision on any award remaining with the Board of Government.

As the result of a successful seminar on January 21, 1986, the fund reached the goal of $10,000 and the Memorial Committee was disbanded and the Transportation Technical Group assumed administration of the fund.  Since 1986, two separate allocations totalling $15,000 were taken from the fund and used to establish a joint BSCES/SAME (Society of American Military Engineers) Bertram Berger Scholarship at Northeastern University.
