Awards

MISSION To recognize BSCES members, as well as other practicing civil engineers, within the local and national societies. STRUCTURE The committee is chaired by a BSCES vice president or senior vice president. The committee chair calls upon other members of the board to participate in the committee as needed. MEETINGS The Committee meets 2 or more times during year. Generally, in the fall, the committee prepares/reviews and submits national award nominations (excluding national honorary membership); in the Spring, the committee selects nominees for BSCES individual and employer awards. CHARGE Solicit and review nominations for the following BSCES Annual Awards: Ralph W. Horne Fund Award Lestor Gaynor Award Clemens Herschel Award Citizen Engineer Award Technical Group Awards Younger Member Award Journalism Award Government Civil Engineer Award (This award is given in conjunction with the Public Sector Engineers Committee, if applicable.) Employer Recognition Award Award nomination solicitations are published in the November newsletter with follow-up articles in subsequent issues. Award nominations can be made on-line. These awards are presented annually at the BSCES Annual Meeting Part II. Solicit and review nominations for the ASCE Annual Awards as published in June newsletter. Update the awards recipient list. This list is maintained on file at The Engineering Center. FINANCIAL This committee neither receives nor disburses funds and is not included in the annual BSCES Operating Budget. All expenses incurred for award plaques, certificates or award monies shall come from the individual award funds.
